Adaptive Performance adjusts your application quality at runtime based on the thermal and power state of the device. It’s built into the Unity Editor and doesn’t require package installation before accessing these settings.
Use these settings to enable Adaptive Performance and select a provider for each installed platform.
To access the Adaptive Performance settings, go to Edit > Project Settings > Adaptive Performance.
These settings apply to your entire project. To override them for a specific build, refer to Set up Adaptive Performance.
The Adaptive Performance category contains the following property.
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Enable Adaptive Performance | Enables Adaptive Performance for your project, so you can select and configure providers for each platform you support. Unity disables this property by default. Notes:
|
When you enable this setting, Unity adds the built-in Adaptive Performance module package to your project and reloads the domain. The settings are unavailable and you can’t enter Play mode until this process finishes.
Unity also adds the Basic and Simulator subcategories under Adaptive Performance in the Project Settings category list. Select a subcategory to view and configure that provider’s settings. For more information, refer to Adaptive Performance provider settings reference.
Each installed platform has separate Adaptive Performance settings. These properties are available only when you enable Adaptive Performance. Select the tab for a platform to configure the following properties.
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Initialize Adaptive Performance on Startup | Initializes Adaptive Performance automatically when the application starts on this platform. Unity enables this property by default. |
| Providers | Lists the Adaptive Performance providers available for this platform. When you select a provider, Unity installs that provider’s package if it isn’t already installed, enables the provider for this platform, and adds it as a subcategory under Adaptive Performance in the Project Settings category list. If you disable a provider, Unity doesn’t uninstall its package. Use the Package Manager window to remove it. Note: Basic and Simulator are built-in providers and don’t have associated packages. Unity doesn’t install or remove any packages when you enable or disable these providers. |
