You can import locally saved asset packages (.unitypackage files) into the Unity Editor for use in your project.
Note: This information explains how to import asset packages that were exported as local files. For information about using the Package Manager to import an asset package you purchased or downloaded from the Asset Store, refer to Download and import an asset package.
Starting with Unity 6.6, the Unity Editor shows safety signals for the asset package you’re importing. For information about package signatures, refer to Package signatures in asset packages.
To import a local asset package:
Open the project you want to import the asset package into.
Go to Assets > Import Package > Custom Package. A file browser appears, prompting you to locate the .unitypackage file.
In the file browser, select the file you want to import and click Open.
The Import Unity Package window displays all the items in the package already selected, ready to install.
Deselect any items you don’t want to import.
Unity puts the contents of the imported asset package into the Assets folder, so that you can access them from your Project window.
You can also import an asset package using the command-line interface (CLI) or the scripting API. For more information, refer to:
-importPackage in Unity Editor command line arguments reference..unitypackage extension. Asset packages are a handy way of sharing and re-using Unity projects and collections of assets. More info
