Add and set up a Reference generator

Add and set up a Reference generator following these steps. For general information on the Reference generator, refer to Reference generator, and for information on this generator's properties, refer to Reference generator properties.

    Add a Reference generator

Refer to Manage Generators for general information on how to add a generator.

    To add a Reference generator:

    1. Right-click where you want to duplicate the settings of an existing generator.
    2. From the drop-down menu, go to Add geometry to selected > Default generator > Reference

    Set up a Reference generator

To set up a Reference generator, first choose a correct placement for it. If you have multiple Reference generators, you can then configure their base filters to point to the correct generators.

    Choose a correct placement

For a correct placement in the generation hierarchy, the Reference generator must:

    • Have a correctly configured Base generator (the Base generator must be a child of the Tree generator). Refer to Base generator properties for more information.

    • Be in a earlier computational pass than its Base generator (an error will result otherwise).

    Configure the Base filter

If you leave the Base filter section blank with multiple Reference generators, each of the Reference generators will report locations to all available Base generators.

To indicate which Base generator you want your Reference generator to point to:

    1. Select the Reference generator.
    2. In the Property Bar, go to Settings > Base filter.
    3. Enter the name of the Base generator that you want the Reference generator to point to.
    Note

You can use search syntax to make a Reference generator refer to multiple Base generators.
