Depth of Field is a post-processing effect that simulates the focus properties of a camera lens. A real-world camera can only focus sharply on an object at a specific distance; objects nearer or farther from the camera will appear slightly out of focus. The blurring gives a visual cue about an object’s distance and produces a pleasing visual effect, known as Bokeh in the photography industry.
For further information on how to use Depth of Field in Unity, refer to the Depth of Field documentation in the Post Processing package.
