    Organize Addressable groups content

Use the GDK Intelligent Delivery Mapper window to organize your Addressable group content for Intelligent Delivery.

Map Addressable groups to chunks, associate those chunks with features using tags, and build recipes from the features. For more information on these concepts, refer to Introduction to Intelligent Delivery.

    Map Addressable groups to chunks

Chunks are Addressable groups with the Intelligent Delivery schema applied. A chunk represents one or more files that install together when selected through the associated feature tags in the GDK Intelligent Delivery Mapper window. For the Microsoft GDK Intelligent Delivery package, the chunk files are the AssetBundles generated from building the Addressable group.

When you add an Addressable group to an existing feature, the system automatically adds the Intelligent Delivery schema to that group. This is the recommended approach. Alternatively, you can add the schema manually to an Addressable group and then complete configuration through the GDK Intelligent Delivery Mapper window.

    Add the schema manually

To add the schema manually, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Addressables Group window (menu: Window > Asset Management > Addressables > Groups).
    2. Select the required Addressable group.
    3. In the Inspector window, select Add Schema.

This adds the Intelligent Delivery schema to the selected group. The chunk properties are read-only in the Addressable group Inspector. Configure the required properties through the GDK Intelligent Delivery Mapper window. For more information, refer to the documentation on Chunk properties reference.

    Add the schema automatically

To add the schema automatically, follow these steps:

    1. Open the GDK Intelligent Delivery Mapper window (menu: GDK > Intelligent Delivery > GDK Intelligent Delivery Mapper).
    2. Drag one or more groups from the Unmapped groups section into an existing feature in the Features list or create a new feature and then add the groups.

The system automatically adds the Intelligent Delivery schema to the dropped groups and the groups are tagged with the features tag.

    Note

You can include the same chunk in multiple features either by dragging and dropping a mapped chunk onto additional features or through the use of tag expressions. Tag expressions provide advanced control with conditional logic (AND, OR). For more information and examples, refer to Grouping related chunks (Microsoft Documentation).

    Define features

Use features to group related chunks together using tags and tag expressions. You can add existing chunks or Addressable groups to the feature.

    1. In the GDK Intelligent Delivery Mapper window, select New > Feature.

A new feature appears in the Features list with default properties.

    2. Configure the feature properties as required. For more information, refer to the documentation on Feature properties reference.

    3. Drag the required Addressable groups from the Unmapped Groups section onto a feature in the Features list to create an association.

    Note

If an Addressable group isn't yet mapped into a chunk, the GDK Intelligent Delivery Mapper automatically marks that group as a chunk by adding the Intelligent Delivery schema to the group. If the Addressable group is already a chunk, it gets associated with the feature.

    Create recipes

Recipes bundle one or more features into specific product variants in the Microsoft Store.

    1. In the GDK Intelligent Delivery Mapper window, select New > Recipe.

A new recipe appears in the Recipes list with default properties.

    2. Configure the properties as required. For more information, refer to the documentation on Recipe properties reference.

    3. Drag the required features into the recipe.

    Note

When using features, the package layout must include at least one recipe which doesn't have any Store ID.
