Merge or emulate fur
Merge or emulate fur to duplicate a source Fur node onto a target Fur node.
Merge fur
Duplicate a source Fur node onto a target Fur node without retaining the attributes of the source Fur node. You can customize the duplication process.
To merge fur sets:
Select the target Fur node first, followed by the source Fur node.
From the Wig menu, select Strands > Transfer > Merge Fur. Wig merges the source sets into the target set using the set options.
You can change the merge options in the Merge Fur Options.
To retain the attributes of the source Fur node:
- Select the target Fur node and then the source Fur node.
- In the Channel Box, press the Tab button after selecting each attribute from Master Density down to CVs Per Strand. This gives the target Fur node the same value attributes as the source Fur node.
- Merge the Fur nodes.
Note
Most of the merge fur options deal with the case where the target node has more hair than the source node and the source strands need to be interpolated. However, when your target node has the same or lower hair density than the source node, you can set Max Neighbor Strands to 1 rather than picking an algorithm (this also makes the operation faster).
Emulate fur
Duplicate a source Fur node onto a target Fur node while retaining the attributes of the source Fur node. You can't customize how the duplication process occurs.
To emulate one fur set on another:
Select the target node.
Select the source node.
Note
Be careful to get those in the correct order: target first, then source.
- From the Wig menu, select Strands > Transfer > Emulate Fur. Wig copies the strand settings from your source fur set to the target.
