Delete a clump curve connected to a fur node
Clump curves have a live connection to the fur node, and can’t be deleted without either unlocking or extracting them. Unlocking a clump curve set disconnects it from the fur node, and clumpCurveSet attributes will no longer be retained. To unlock a clump curve connected to a fur node:
- Select the
wmClumpCurveSet
node. - Go to Wig > Clumps > Edit > Unlock Clump Curve Set. You can now delete the clump completely and the groom will appear unchanged.
If you want to retain your curves and clump set attributes, you can extract and rebuild your clumps. This way, you can make edits with strand-based tools without risking the loss of your edits.
To extract and rebuild your clumps:
- Select the
wmClumpCurveSet
node. - Go to Wig > Clumps > Extract Clump Curves. The curves are taken out of their original clump curve set and put into a new group that has
curvesToReconnect
added at the end. - You can delete the
wmWigClumpToolNode
andwmWigClumpCurveSet
. Any strand-based edits are retained even after a curve clump is modified.
Note
Clump curves and clump curve set attributes are stored in the Maya scene but are not used once your work is ready to be applied to shot work or animated characters. The actual strands are stored independently of the Maya scene. Refer to Concepts for more information.
Note
If you need to make further edits, keep a version of your scene with live connected clumps. You can also use your clump curves as simulation guides.
