    [10.1.0] - 2025-08-18

    Features

    • Improved Vertex Color, Vertex Feature, and Displacement painting experience in Freehand mode on Branches and Meshes.
    • Added season properties in Branch, Leaf mesh, Batched leaf, Frond, Decal, and Mesh detail generators.

    Changes

    • Added a message to the Tree Window that notifies you when geometry in the scene is disabled in the View menu.
    • Modified the Rules window, so it now stays where you last made edits instead of scrolling to the top.

    Fixes

    • Fixed a bug that caused potential crashes when the LOD system was in use in conjunction with leaf collision.
    • Fixed a bug that caused growth animation exports to USD to crash if any frames were empty.
    • Fixed USD metadata exporting.
    • Fixed the frame count when exporting growth and wind in the same cache.
    • Fixed a bug that could cause Alembic growth exports to fail, so spines now display correctly.
    • Fixed UVs in the output meshes of meshes assigned the "Separate" atlas style during the exporting of multiple models into a combined atlas.
    • Fixed a bug that could cause sequence selection on Mesh Helper objects to pick points outside of the chosen mesh.
    • Fixed a crash related to using a single mesh helper to create multiple spines attached to mesh generators.
    • Fixed a crash that involved toggling projector base generator settings during background computing.
    • Fixed a crash that could occur when pressing the space bar during Mesh Helper sequence selection.
    • Fixed trimmed branches, so they now behave correctly in lower LODs.

    • Fixed crash when copy/pasting a material with cutout meshes into a new tree and then trying to edit those meshes.
    • Updated Cinema4D import script.
    • Fixed random garbage UVs from game FBX export.
    • Clip below ground now works in image export.
    • Art Director icons for editing force strength now match the size of the other Art Director gizmos.
    • Fixed a crash that would occur when using the new wind rigging functionality in v10.0.0 on files saved in v9.x.x with vertex edited meshes.
    • Fixed a threading issue related to profile curve evaluation.
    • Fixed crash when removing maps from a material.

    Features

    • Added Mesh helper tools to create spine hierarchies in hero meshes to control and build off of them.
    • Added Vine generator to create vines that hang with gravity and physically interact with their environment.
    • Added Trim brush to adjust the overall shape of the tree directly from the Tree window.
    • Added Shade Pruning option that removes leaves from the interior shaded parts of the tree.
    • Parent curve option evaluation is now based on either the relative position (between "First" and "Last") or the absolute position of a node.
    • Added configurable mesh data packing script functionality available for use in FBX and USD to control colors and texture coordinates.
    • Added Reference generators that allow placeholders in the generation hierarchy to mark spots for new nodes.
    • Added script Rules that control procedural parameters and speed up common modeling tasks within the Modeler.
    • Branch lengths can be clamped to within a given range per generator to help eliminate unwanted outlier branches.
    • Branch radii can be clamped to range to aid in radius control in complex models.
    • Added an option in the arbitrary scene scale tool to scale the model without modifying any size scalars on the model.
    • Added texture packer that keeps all material maps separate.
    • Added neutral gray light preset.
    • Added save as with assets: "Package Tree", which provides an easy way to export the tree with texture adjustments.
    • Added a prompt to get user preference for loading additional assets like maps and meshes.
    • Added a button to the asset bar to reload all maps on material.

    Changes

    • The graphical user interface has been totally redesigned.
    • A wide Property bar now displays properties in multiple columns.
    • Crowded generator labels are now offset when selected or hovered over to make them easier to read.

    Fixes

    • Clicked materials no longer "stick" in the material asset bar.
    • Fixed uneditable season curve in material set bar.
    • Material set weights now properly influence material selection.
    • Crash and incorrect behavior associated with click-placing targets has been corrected.
    • Cutout editor now removes transparent polygons correctly.
    • Fin generators compute in-place growth correctly.
    • Leaf Mesh generators compute in-place growth correctly.
    • BatchedLeaf generator edits cause leaf collision to compute as expected.
    • "Ignore parent" flag added to BatchedLeaf generators for use in post-compute collision and shade pruning.
    • Fixed crash associated with branch selection in vertex editing mode.
    • Fixed crash on subdivision surfaces with multithreading.
    • Fixed crash when sliding LOD slider with certain decoration LOD curves.
    • Fixed a bug that could cause slight inconsistencies in parent curve lookups.
    • Fixed problems with width/height updating in various places when using scene cameras.
    • Only branches with wind explicitly enabled will factor into wind behavior.
    • Fixed wind strength property in export dialog, to allow "Current" and "Timeline" options.
    • Leaves that fall during season transitions no longer blow in the wind.
    • Force properties with a behavior chosen no longer get their name cut off in the property bar.
    • The "Chaos" parameter now works in VFX as expected.
    • Names/paths saved into USD files are now sanitized to avoid bad characters that could cause crashes.
    • Fixed problems with editing atlas in export dialog.
    • Fixed disappearing progress dialog throughout the export process.
