Update the growth mesh
The vert copy functionality lets you update the growth mesh without changing the groom.
Use this method if the updated growth mesh:
- Has the same topology and UVs as the old growth mesh.
- Doesn't contain clump curves.
If the new mesh doesn't meet the above criteria, refer to merge or emulate.
To update the growth mesh:
- Save and lock the groom (Wig > Strands > Edit > Lock Groom for Animation).
- Add the new growth mesh to the scene.
- Select the new and old growth meshes. Make sure you select the new growth mesh first.
- From the Wig menu, in the Geometry section, select Transfer > Vert Copy by UV.
- Unlock the groom (Wig > Strands > Edit > Unlock Groom for Editing).
- Select the old growth mesh.
- From the Wig menu, in the Geometry section, select Transfer > Remove Vert Copy Attrs.
- It's now safe to delete the new growth mesh from the scene.
Tip
Before you unlock and remove the vert copy attributes from the old growth mesh, scrub the Wm Vert Copy Drv1 channel on the old growth mesh to see the changes to the groom. This is similar to scrubbing a BlendShape.
