Randomize Coils Options
Randomize the values of all coil attributes for the center helix line when generating natural curly hair shapes.
Find these options at Wig > Coil > Edit > Randomize.
Range Settings
| Property | Description | |
|---|---|---|
| Natural Radius | Set the range of the random value for the natural radius of the coil. This is the radius of the helix in the "rest" pose, when it is not influenced by external forces, such as gravity. | |
| Natural Pitch | Set the range of the random value for the natural pitch of the coil. This is the pitch of the helix in the "rest" pose, when it is not influenced by external forces, such as gravity. | |
| Allow Mirroring | Allow random mirroring of natural pitch values. This option switches the winding of the helix (for example, right-handed to left-handed). | |
| Root Phase | Set the range of the random value for the root phase of the coil. This controls the rotation of the helix around its center line. | |
| Root Blending Lengths | Set the range of the random value for the root blending length of the coil. This option allows you to control the position of the root of the helix curve, allowing you to blend the root of the helix and the root of the center line over a distance. | |
| Heterogeneity | Set the range of the random value for the heterogeneity of the coil. Heterogeneity generates random changes in the natural pitch of the helix, introducing variations in the coil. | |
| Twist Density | Set the range of the random value for the twist density of the coil. This option randomly places helical perversions on the curve according to the provided twist density, replicating helical perversions seen in strands of curly hair. |
Settings
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Linear Mass Density | Set the range of the random value for the linear mass density of the coil. Linear mass density is the mass to length ratio of the hair. Increasing the linear mass density causes the helix to stretch more toward the root, which is useful for modeling wet hair. |
| Bending Stiffness | Set the range of the random value for the bending stiffness of the coil. Bending stiffness is the hair's resistance to bending. |
| Twisting Stiffness | Set the range of the random value for the twisting stiffness of the coil. Twisting stiffness is the hair's resistance to twisting. |
| Number of Samples | Set the range of the random value for the number of helical segments used by the physical model. Increasing this number improves the accuracy of the simulation at the cost of performance. |
| CV Output Density | Set the range of the random value for the CV output density of the coil. CV output density is the number of points generated on the output curve of the helix according to its length. |
| Fixed Global Random Seed | Set the randomness seed value. The seed controls the random number generator used by the Heterogeneity and Twist Density options. It is recommended to use a different seed for each center line curve so that the resulting helix curves look different even if they use the same physical attributes. |
