Installing Wig packages
Debian:

RPM:

Load Source
In order to load Wig, ensure you source the appropriate environment setup script before launching Maya
This source needs to be run each time before launching Maya, in order for Wig to show in the Plug-in Manager
Note
Source needs to be run in separate Terminal windows for each version of Maya or the source may conflict with one another.
Examples:
Maya 2023
source /opt/Unity/WetaTools/wig/<version_number>/maya_plat_2023/mayausd_plat_0.16.0/usd_plat_2111/vfx_plat_2022/wig_setup
Maya 2022
source /opt/Unity/WetaTools/wig/<version_number>/maya_plat_2022/mayausd_plat_0.8.0/usd_plat_2011/vfx_plat_2020/wig_setup
source /opt/Unity/WetaTools/wig/<version_number>/maya_plat_2022/mayausd_plat_0.8.0/usd_plat_2011/vfx_plat_2019/wig_setup
An example version number is 2023.07.04.
Automatically loading source
You can add the source command to your .bashrc or .zshrc. This only needs to be done once and after restarting Terminal, it will automatically source for you. This will work for a specific version of Maya and cannot work to load wig in all supported version of Maya at the same time.
Loading Wig in Maya
Ensure you run the appropriate source as noted above. Then launch Maya (for example, /usr/autodesk/<maya_version>/bin/maya).
Load Wig via the Windows menu > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager.
Loading Wig in Houdini
To load Wig USD files in Houdini, source the appropriate environment setup script before launch.
source /opt/Unity/WetaTools/wig/<version_number>/houdini_plat_19.5/vfx_plat_2020/wig_setup
An example version number is 2023.07.04.
Then launch Houdini via: /opt/hfs<houdini_version>/bin/houdini
Example: /opt/hfs19.5.368/bin/houdini
