What's new in Unity Reflect 1.2?
Now supported
Navisworks 2019, 2020, 2021)
Note: The first release of the plugin supports geometry, materials, and metadata. Additional data types will be available in future versions.
Revit 2021
Sketchup 2020
Cloud hosting (beta)
This version of Reflect offers cloud support to all users as a beta feature. Users now have the option to host projects in the cloud, allowing them to push data to their mobile devices without being on the same network.
Note: This feature is in beta and should not be relied on for production.
Reflect Viewer improvements
- Available in the Mac App Store
- Improved default visual fidelity
Improved navigation
Releasing the two-finger drag gesture on mobile no longer resets the camera. A new reset button restores the original model position. This update also adds a teleport mode.
Sun Study tool
- Missing materials displayed in grey instead of teal
- Models download approximately 4x faster
Reflect Dashboard added
A new Reflect Dashboard is now available! You will find a Reflect icon in your system tray. This dashboard allows you to monitor export progress and manage your projects and servers.
The progress bar is now independent from the host application. This allows a progress bar to be present in applications that don’t monitor progress, like Sketchup, and allows us to be more accurate.
The Reflect Dashboard now allows you to delete specific models (sources) from a Reflect project.
Editor Workflow
A new tool in Reflect allows you to convert between Built-in, URP, and HDRP.
Reflect Viewer available on Git
New Viewer API in preview
- A new runtime data pipeline that allows customizing the way Reflect data is ingested in the runtime, making it easier to leverage metadata and create custom behaviors
- A new streaming feature that progressively streams objects in the scene, allowing larger models to be supported
- Better viewer architecture, making it easier to maintain and update your custom viewer over multiple development cycles
- Detailed documentation with examples and sample code
Bug fixes
- (AEC-585) Fixed an issue where the Reflect UI would sometimes be stuck behind Revit, making it look like Revit crashed.
- (AEC-504) Fixed an issue where the “document” filter was not available for data coming from Sketchup
- (AEC-577) Fixed a “missing Assembly Error” when building Reflect for OSX
- (AEC-658) Fixed a crash in server when exporting very large models due to running out of memory
- (AEC-250) Fixed a bug where merged objects would lose some metadata
- (AEC-678) Fixed an issue where moving linked Revit files while sync is active would create a duplicate of the linked file
- (AEC-723) Fixed an issue where Rhino model orientation was sometimes wrong
- (AEC-502) Rhino “Document” filter is now available
- (AEC-502) Sketchup “Document” filter is now available
- (AEC-671) Fixed an installer issue where Reflect plugins would show up twice in the Windows Add/Remove programs list
- (AEC-500) Fixed an issue with Rhino unit conversions
- (AEC-650) Fixed an issue where Rhino would send objects twice
- (AEC-727) Fixed an issue where Reflect would fail if a single mesh was bigger than 128MB (new limit for a single object is 2GB)
Known issues
- Sync functionality not available for Navisworks. This is due to Navisworks not offering consistent object IDs between sessions. We will be adding this in a future release.
- Files with very long path names will fail to open in the viewer. As a workaround, use short file names for the source file and the Reflect Project name.
- There is a known issue where antivirus software can slow down the export of Reflect projects.
- Deleting an object that has been merged (for example: Railing) while in sync mode may fail. You will need to restart the Viewer.
