    Render shots in batches

Batch rendering lets you render multiple shots at the same time. You can render shots of different products from different camera angles and with different settings.

To set up batch rendering, you must first specify a base shot of the product. Forma Render applies any view changes you make to the camera state or environment on top of this base shot.

Set up a new batch render configuration

    Note

Before you set up a new batch render configuration, you must already have the shot that you want to use as the base.

To set up a new batch render configuration, follow these steps:

    1. Select Batch Rendering.
    2. Select the Add (+) Batch button.
    3. To rename the new batch, right-click and select Rename.
    4. To specify the base shot for this batch, open the Capture Gallery and drag and drop the shot you want to use into the Base Shot column.
    5. To specify the variant set for this batch, open the Product panel and drag and drop the variant set you want to use into the Variant column.
    6. To select individual variants from the variant set, expand the variant set and select the variants you want.
    7. To specify the view for this batch, open the Capture Gallery and drag and drop the shot you want to use as the view into the View column.

Add output profiles for the new batch

Output profiles define the format and quality of the shots rendered in your batch.

When you create a batch, a profile is also automatically created. Each batch can have multiple profiles.

To add and configure a batch profile, follow these steps:

    1. Select the batch you want to add a profile to.
    2. Select Add Profile. You can rename this profile if necessary.
    3. In the Format drop-down, select the image format (PNG, WebP, EXR, or JPEG) and the image quality (High, Medium, or Low) for the profile.
    4. In the Resolution drop-down, select the image resolution for the profile.
    5. Select the AOV Layers to include in the shot.
    6. Configure Watermarks if necessary.
    7. Select Render to render all the shots for this batch using the profile you configured.

Forma Render saves your batch render shots in the same directory as your individual shots.

    Force aspect ratio

You can force the aspect ratio of your batch render shots to have your aspect ratio match your batch rendering resolution.

To force the aspect ratio, follow these steps:

    1. Go to Batch Rendering.
    2. Use the resolution dropdown to select the resolution of your batch rendering.
    3. Enable the Force aspect ratio toggle to make sure all renders from the batch have an aspect ratio that corresponds to the selected resolution. If the toggle is disabled, the batch renders keep the aspect ratio of the original base shots but still adjust the pixel count according to the resolution you selected.
