    Rendering with raytracing (preview)

You can use Forma Render to create images and videos using raytraced reflections and shadows. Raytracing is a preview feature of Unity.

Raytracing is enabled by default with DirectX 12. To manage performance, you can customize your settings to separately enable raytracing features for the project and viewport for direct preview.

    Important

You must use Windows to render with raytracing. Other operating systems do not support raytracing.

    Enabling raytracing in your project

To enable raytracing in your project:

    1. Go to Getting Started with Ray Tracing and confirm that you meet the hardware requirements.
    2. Go to Forma > Forma Render > Forma Render Wizard and select Fix All.
    3. Go to Edit > Project Settings > Player > Other Settings > Graphics APIs for Windows and enable DirectX 12 API in your project. DirectX12 (Experimental) must be first on the list.

    Raytracing features in Forma Render

You can disable raytracing in the viewport but keep it enabled in the final shots by selecting Raytracing in Viewport in your Settings.

You can also control the various raytracing features of Forma Render by going to Settings > Output Settings: Raytracing and enabling the following settings:

    Setting Description
Raytraced Ambient Occlusion (RTAO) Replaces SSAO with RTAO.
Raytraced Shadows Replaces cascaded shadow maps with raytraced screen space shadows.
Raytraced Reflections (RTR) Replaces Screen Space Reflections (SSR) with RTR.
Enable Denoisers Enables denoising of RTAO and RTR.
