    Raytracing (preview)

Forma Render lets you create images and videos using raytraced reflections and shadows. Raytracing is a preview feature of Unity.

When you open Forma Render with DirectX 12, raytracing is enabled by default and you can customize settings for your shots. You can use the project wizard to select the correct settings. To manage performance, you can enable raytracing features for the project and viewport for direct preview separately.

    Enable raytracing in your project

To enable raytracing in your project, follow these steps:

    1. Verify the hardware requirements on Getting Started with Ray Tracing.
    2. Run the Forma Render Wizard from the Forma > Forma Render > Forma Render Wizard menu.
    3. Enable the DirectX 12 API in your project by going to Edit > Project Settings > Player > Graphics APIs for Windows. DirectX12 (Experimental) must be first in the list.
    4. When the Editor restarts, go to Edit > Project Settings. In the Project Settings wizard, go to Quality > HDRP > HDRP Asset and enable Realtime Raytracing (Preview).

    Use raytracing in Forma Render

After pressing play, with Forma Render enabled, a new option should be available in the Settings panel: Raytracing in Viewport. This allows you to enable or disable raytracing in the viewport and to separately keep raytracing enabled in final shots.

A new section should also be available in the Settings panel under Output Settings: Raytracing. These settings control the various raytracing features of Forma Render.
