To install Unity Forma
To install the Unity Editor, follow these steps:
- Download and launch the Unity Hub.
- Login using the Unity Account that has the license for both Unity Industrial Collection and Unity Forma.
- Select Installs and then ADD to download a supported version of the Unity Editor.
- Once the Unity Editor is installed, you can continue the installation from the Unity Forma Sample Project or by installing the Unity Forma package into an existing package (see Option 1, below).
Option 1: Start with the Unity Forma Sample Project (preferred)
To help you get started with Unity Forma more quickly, we created a sample project that includes the packages you need and any dependencies that must be installed at the same time. Installing Unity Forma from the sample project is the fastest way to make sure that all the correct packages and dependencies are installed.
To install Unity Forma from the sample project, follow these steps:
Download the latest version of the sample project and extract the files to the correct location on your desktop.
Once extracted, you can see that the sample project files are organized as follows:- The SampleProject folder contains the Aviera Model (a model of a car that you can use to generate a sample configurator to see how a configurator project is organized).
- The TemplateProject folder contains a basic configurator project that does not use the Aviera model. To start a project with your own product model, you can copy and rename this folder to the Project name you want to use.
Select the Projects tab.
- Verify that the correct version of the Unity Editor is installed.
If you want to use the sample project, make sure that the installed version of the Editor is the correct version for this project.
Important: If a warning icon appears in the row for the Sample Project in the Unity Hub, you do not have the correct version. Follow instructions to install the correct version before launching the project. - In the Unity Hub, select ADD and select the project folder you want to launch (for example, the SampleProject).
- In the Projects list, select a project to open in the Editor.
If the correct version of the Editor is installed, the project opens in the version of the Unity Editor associated with that project.
NOTE: It can take several minutes for the Editor to import and open this Unity Forma Sample Project for the first time.

Importing a product from Pixyz to Unity Forma
The Pixyz for Unity plugin lets you import various file formats that you save in Pixyz to the Unity Editor.
If you use the Unity Forma Sample Project or Template Project to create your configurator, the Pixyz for Unity plugin is installed automatically when you import the project.
If you want to import a product from Pixyz into a different project, you must add the plugin to the project manually from the Package Manager.
When installed, a Pixyz menu appears on the menu bar of the Editor. The menu lets you connect to the Pixyz License Manager to add your Pixyz license.
